Begin Your Scouting Adventure

Time Commitment for Families

Cub Scouts makes it easy for families to jump into the adventure without overwhelming your schedule!

On average, families spend about 2 hours a week enjoying all the fun, growth, and friendship that Scouting offers.

Here’s what a typical month looks like:

  • Monthly pack meetings where the whole group comes together (1-2 hours each)
  • Smaller group meetings of 5-10 similar-age scouts, 2-3 times each month (1-2 hours each)
  • Special adventures like camping trips that bring the program to life (2–4 weekends per year)

Cub Scouts is a family adventure. Parents play an active role in helping their Scout try new things, build confidence and celebrate achievements. Every scout must be accompanied and supported by a parent or another caring adult. Siblings always welcome.

3

πŸ‘• Get Your Uniform and Register for Scouts

Purchase your Scout uniform (we will give you a handbook!). These are essential tools of the Scouting program that create a sense of belonging and provide guidance for advancement. Each grade level has a specific uniform and handbook.

4

πŸ•οΈ Start Your Adventure!

Begin participating in den meetings, pack activities, and outdoor adventures. Your Cub Scout will start earning badges and awards while building skills and making friends that can last a lifetime.

An Investment in Your Child's Future

When compared to the cost of sports and many other youth activities, Scouting delivers exceptional value! Your investment helps provide a program that builds character, teaches citizenship, develops leadership skills, and creates memories that last a lifetime.

πŸ’³ Scouting America Membership Fees

The annual national registration fee is $85 (effective May 1, 2024). For just $15 more, your Scout can receive a year's subscription to Scout Life magazine – a great resource filled with adventures, stories, and activities.

🐾 Pack Dues

Pack 57 collects modest dues of $180 (2025) to cover the costs of awards, the handbook, recognition items, craft supplies, renting our space, and special events. Our pack committee, made up of parents just like you, establishes these dues to keep the program affordable while providing quality experiences.

πŸ‘• Uniform and Handbook

Each grade level has a specific uniform (approximately $40-$75) and handbook. Pack 57 provides the handbook but not the uniform out of your dues. We also have a uniform bank of lightly used uniforms - if you are interested please contact us. The handbook contains all required and elective adventures for each rank and serves as your Scout's record of achievement. Uniforms create a sense of belonging, equality and unity within the pack.

πŸ•οΈ Activities and Events

Some activities like camping trips, field trips, day camps, and special events may have additional costs. These are always optional, and our pack often conducts fundraisers to help offset these expenses for families.

🀝 Financial Assistance

We believe every child should have the opportunity to be a Scout. If you need financial assistance, please speak with our pack leadership. Various forms of support are available, including payment plans, fundraising opportunities, and potential scholarships.
